Groundbreaking planned for Susquehanna medical building

By , - Last modified: October 12, 2011 at 9:06 AM

Harrisburg-based Laughner Patel Developers will break ground Oct. 20 for a medical office building off Kohn Road in the Capital Center office park in Susquehanna Township.

The township commissioners in July approved a land development plan for the project.

The 23,615-square-foot Capital Medical Center being constructed on 9 acres will be the home of Harrisburg-based Schein Ernst Eye Associates, said Mayur Patel, principal of Laughner Patel.

The eye practice will be moving its Harrisburg office from North Front Street. Schein Ernst also has offices in Lemoyne and Gettysburg.

The $8 million facility also will include a surgery and laser center and an additional 3,500-square-foot medical practice, Patel said. The center is expected to open next fall and employ about 50 people.

Wormleysburg-based Pyramid Construction Services Inc. is the general contractor on the project. GS Architects LLC of Delaware County is the architect.
