Chambers advocate for Fair Share Act
The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and local chambers across the state are urging lawmakers to support Fair Share Act legislation now before the state Senate after a House measure passed in April, the chamber said.
The Fair Share Act refers to changes to the rules that hold a defendant liable for the entirety of a legal decision regardless of the proportion of the defendant's fault in the matter, according to the chamber.
It allows attorneys to go after the defendant with the "deep pockets," the chamber said.
Current rules have stifled business and hampered job creation, the chamber said. More than 60 local chambers have signed a letter supporting the legislation, according to the chamber.
