York County-based Utz Quality Foods Inc. has completed an acquisition of Louisiana-based chip maker Zappe Endeavors, Utz said today.
Zappe does business as Zapp’s Potato Chips and makes the Zapp’s, Dirty and California brands of products. It has plants in its hometown of Gramercy, La., and in Oxnard, Calif., and the Wilkes-Barre area.
Zapp’s will continue to operate the plants as a division of Utz, said George Neiderer, vice president of human resources for Utz. The deal seeks to grow sales, distribution and jobs for the combined firm, he said.
The company is not releasing the acquisition price, Neiderer said.
Hanover-based Utz Quality Foods began in 1921 and makes potato chips, pretzels and cheese snacks.
