Lancaster Countyís Powell Steel Corp. has received recognition as one of the nationís top black-owned businesses.
Black Enterprise magazine last month ranked the Pequea Township fabricator and erector No. 97 in its list of the 100 largest black-owned industrial and service companies. It was the only midstate firm to make the annual ďB.E. 100sĒ ranking.
Powell has grown from $800,000 in revenue in the mid-1990s to $28 million in 2009, the magazine said.
The companyís debut on the list is welcome recognition and a tribute to the dedication of its employees, said Stephen Powell, president and CEO of the privately held company.
