The founder and president of Keystone Custom Homes was awarded the Hearthstone Builder Humanitarian Award for 2008.

Jeff Rutt received $200,000 to distribute to a charity, which he has designated as Hope International. Rutt founded the faith-based nonprofit organization in 1997. The group works in 13 countries and serves the poor through

micro-credit lending programs and children's ministries. Rutt is the chairman of Hope's board of trustees.

The winners of the Hearthstone Builder Humanitarian Award are selected based on a number of factors, including lifetime commitment, depth of commitment and significance of community contributions. The award is presented by Washington, D.C.-based Builder magazine and California-based Hearthstone Inc. Hearthstone is an institutional investment-management firm dedicated to the

residential-building industry.

Rutt was honored at an award dinner Feb. 14 during the International Builders' Show in Orlando, Fla. He will also appear on the cover of Builder magazine.

Rutt founded Keystone Custom Homes in 1992 in Manheim Township, Lancaster County.
