Description Located in Harrisburg, the Susquehanna Resource Management Complex (SRMC), is home to the nationís first waste-to-energy facility and serves the solid waste management needs of Dauphin and Lancaster counties. Central to the SRMC is a waste-to-energy facility capable of producing 23 megawatts of renewable energy (electricity).
Visitors will visit the new Transfer/Maintenance/Administration Building where construction/demolition waste loads and other small customer deliveries are taken; the tipping floor where an overhead crane mixes waste in the storage pit; and the closed ash monofill, where ash is staged before it is transported to the Frey Farm Landfill for use as alternate daily cover.
The free tour lasts approximately one hour. Children must be at least 8 years of age and accompanied by an adult.
