National Train Day Open House at Stewartstown Train Station

In observance of the seventh annual National Train Day, the Stewartstown Railroad Station Museum at 21 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Stewartstown, PA, will be open to the public on Saturday, May 10. Hours will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The station is located on Route 851 in Stewartstown, five miles east of Interstate 83 Exit 4.
Visitors will be able to view an early 20th century small town train station waiting room and ticket agent’s office. A collection of historical artifacts from the Stewartstown Railroad is on display at the museum. The gift shop will be open.
The Stewartstown Railroad will have its operating 1943 Plymouth locomotive Number 9 nicknamed “Mighty Mo” on display outside the station along with two 1920’s era Reading Railroad passenger coaches currently under restoration.
Weather permitting, the Stewartstown Railroad Company will be operating motorcar (“speeder”) rides during the open house. Rides will start at 1:30 p.m. and operate continuously until 4:00 p.m. Fare is $6.00 per seat. The rides are on authentic open air railroad work cars and not passenger coaches.
