Dawood Engineering moving HQ to Lower Paxton Township
A Cumberland County engineering firm is moving its headquarters to Dauphin County as part of a push to centralize its midstate staff into a single office.
Currently, local Dawood employees are spread among three buildings along Good Hope Road near the Wertzville Road exit of Interstate 81. The engineering and land development services firm has grown to about 130 people, including about 70 in the Harrisburg area, and has been looking for a new office for much of the year, said Jim Rodgers, the company's chief strategic officer.
"We're looking to get everyone under one roof," Rodgers said. "We're also maxed out and continuing to hire."
Dawood hopes to move into the new Dauphin County office by the end of the year, he said. The company's current headquarters, which is owned by company president Bony Dawood, will likely be marketed for lease to other tenants. Dawood also will retain some space for equipment storage.
Another major tenant on Good Hope Road is Post Acute Medical, a growing health care company. Penn State Health, meanwhile, is planning to build a new hospital next year near Good Hope Road, hoping to reach people in fast-growing Cumberland County.
Founded in 1992, Dawood has offices in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Massachusetts and Maryland.
Art Campbell and Jessica Gasper of Lemoyne-based Campbell Commercial Real Estate Inc. represented Dawood in the office deal.
